ABOUT THE BELLINGHAM WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE
The World Naked Bike Ride has happened in cities across the globe since 2004. In Bellingham we've been riding every June since 2008. Since then we've grown in size from a handful of participants to consistently over 300 riders.
Free and inclusive to all, our ride is a spirited gathering of families, activists, and community members. Some ride for liberty, exhilaration and solidarity, others ride in protest of fossil fuels and body shame. All of us ride in celebration of the cyclist community, ecology, and the human body.
If you are interested, we invite you to help us plan, fund, publicize, and facilitate the ride.
Or, join us June 7th for the fun! Body painting begins at 4 pm at Makeshift Art Space and we ride at 6 pm.

OUR GOALS
The purpose of this worldwide event is to celebrate the cyclist community, ecology, and the human body. We aim to:

Promote a more bicyclist-friendly culture by highlighting cyclist vulnerability

Protest “indecent exposure” to fossil fuels. The body is not lude, but killing the earth is.

Redefine our cultural body image and foster an understanding of the body that comes from individuals and their communities, not from ad agencies.

Stimulus to spark and deepen conversations within the local community.

Reject the commodification of our planet and our bodies.

Respect the sovereignty of people over their own bodies as outlined in Bellingham Body Rights’ “Platform”, available at BodyRights.INFO.

Work toward providing a safe place for people to challenge the ways the media has taught us to feel flawed and uncomfortable in our bodies

Foster radical self-love and empowerment in all participants
